Who are the people arguing against the Iran nuclear deal? Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton. US Senators Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer. What do all these people have in common? They all passionately supported the US invasion of Iraq. At least they are consistent, even if it […]
It is not ironic that the Republicans oppose Obama’s deal with Iran – the deal that prevents Iran from developing nuclear weapons in exchange for the lifting of economic sanctions against them. After all, not only do Republicans automatically oppose virtually everything Obama does, they seem to really like starting wars in the Middle East. […]
© Rebecca Hendin I don’t get it. The Chicken Hawks seem to be claiming that the only way to avoid war with Iran is to go to war against them. Isn’t this the same logic that got us into trouble with Iraq and other countries? As the book said, “War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, […]
[I’m quoting an article by Jim Wright from Stonekettle Station in its entirety (minus the addendum, which you should go read).] “The reality is that John McCain the politician has made America less safe, sent our brave soldiers into wrong-headed foreign adventures, covered up for President (Barack) Obama with the VA scandal and has spent […]
President Obama appears for an extended interview on the Daily Show, and discusses Iran, the media, partisanship, and public service. I wish more news were like this, and it is ironic that we have to watch a comedy fake news show to see it. And I also want to point out that the Social Security […]
© Tom Tomorrow I admit that I have something of a feeling of schizophrenic ambivalence about the upcoming elections. I mean, there is so much more political irony out there during a presidential election. On the other hand, haven’t we seen just about everything that is possibly ironic, over and over again? Is there anything […]
Donald Trump called undocumented immigrants from Mexico to the USA “criminals” and “rapists”. Well, it looks like Canada feels the same way about undocumented immigrants from the USA. This includes US war deserters from the Iraq war, who left because of what they witnessed in Iraq, including unprovoked acts of violence against civilians.
© Ruben Bolling I can’t fault Bolling’s somewhat cynical assertion that when a prominent Republican says or does something, they are pretty much only considering whether it will give them a political advantage. Whether or not it is a good idea or what kind of effect it will have on the country is largely immaterial. […]

© Ted Rall Yes, Jeb Bush really did say that he still would have invaded Iraq, even knowing everything we know now. Personally, I think that that is so incredibly stupid that it should automatically disqualify him from being president. It also makes him blaming Obama for creating the mess in Iraq even that much […]
Now here’s a good one. Yesterday, Jeb Bush congratulated the US Special Forces who killed a top ISIS leader, but he continued to blame the Obama administration for the “void that created this emerging caliphate that is far bigger than anything that existed before and there is no long-term strategy on how to deal with […]

© Matt Lubchansky I’m definitely not advocating violence. But America does seem to have a love-hate relationship with violence. We love the founding fathers and the Boston tea party, but we hate violent protests for civil rights. We love revolutionaries, as long as they aren’t socialists (although some people love Che Guevara, but mostly in […]

Representative John Duncan (R-TN) has a very good opinion piece in The American Conservative, titled “A Return to the Peace Party”. Duncan laments that the current batch of “Republican candidates for president try to outdo each other in their hawkishness” and worries that “it is a recipe for defeat if my Republican party becomes known […]

© Tom Tomorrow Who could have predicted that the week when I went out of town could have produced so much irony in my absence! My only question is, should I go on vacation more often?
There is an interesting phenomenon in psychology called projection. According to Wikipedia: Psychological projection is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against unpleasant impulses by denying their existence in themselves, while attributing them to others. For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude. According to […]
Andy Borowitz has two hilarious satirical articles about the continued GOP attempts to sabotage Obama’s negotiations with Iran: “Kim Jong-Un Feels Snubbed By Absence of Letter from Republicans” has the North Korean dictator complaining that it was hurtful for Republicans to send a letter to Iran and ignore his country. After all, North Korea already […]
