CNN put together a video showing the reactions of conservatives to Hunter Biden’s three convictions, and how the same conservatives reacted to Donald Trump’s 34 convictions. They couldn’t be more different. Are these people that hypocritical?
Trump used to come up with campaign slogans, like “Build the Wall”, or “Lock her Up”. But lately he has fallen off. Just in time, Jack Ohman has a cartoon showing an ad agency with far more appropriate slogans given recent events:
I love Calvin and Hobbes, but I have to admit that Calvin reminds me of Donald Trump. After all, Trump constantly makes things up, but can’t stand it when someone points out that they aren’t real.
During Donald Trump’s trial, he tried to get Judge Juan Merchan recused not once, but twice. Trump’s argument was based on the fact that Merchan’s adult daughter works for a consulting firm that has Democratic clients. This is especially bizarre because last year (before the trial even started), a judicial ethics commission decided that Merchan’s daughter’s work did not require recusal of the judge.
Now, recall that we have two Supreme Court justices who have refused to recuse themselves from cases related to Trump’s attempts to steal the 2020 presidential election. The first one is Clarence Thomas, whose wife Virginia is “a longtime conservative activist and Trump booster“, who actually helped lead the “Stop the Steal” campaign, and even attended the January 6, 2021 rally near the White House (but, like Trump himself, did not march on the Capitol).
The second one is Samuel Alito, whose wife twice flew flags at their home that were commonly used by the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol.
UPDATE: According to The Hill, a former law clerk for Samuel Alito has called for him to recuse himself from cases relating to Donald Trump, saying: “Irrespective of why it is there, who put it there — it shouldn’t have been there. The problem is that flag is incendiary, and it cannot do anything other than raise a reasonable inference of bias”.
I’m sure this is all over the internet by now, but it is SOOO precious. Representative John Rose (R-TN), rose up to speak to an virtually empty House to follow in the footsteps of Republicans kissing the ring of Donald Trump. But he brought his 6-year-old son, who — sitting behind his dad — managed to steal the show.
I’m showing you the entire 5 minutes of the speech, even though the funniest parts for the son are right up front. He’s just mimicking what anyone who isn’t MAGA would be feeling about this speech.
In his speech, the representative just repeated the lies being spewed out by Trump and other Republicans. For example, the claim that Alvin Bragg, who was elected to be the Manhattan District Attorney, campaigned on a promise to prosecute Donald Trump, is totally false. In fact, Bragg initially decided NOT to bring charges against Trump, but some of the lawyers who had been working for a while on the Trump case were so upset, they resigned in protest. After spending almost a year following the evidence, Bragg decided to bring charges.
Republicans keep lying, saying that Joe Biden weaponized the Department of Justice to go after Trump. That is laughable. The US DOJ has absolutely nothing to do with the state of New York or its legal system. According to former Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina, “Joe Biden or anyone from his Justice Department has absolutely zero to do with the Manhattan District Attorney office, they have no jurisdiction over him, they have no contact with him, they have no control certainly over him. So to say that Joe Biden brought this case is one of the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard. We know that’s not the case and even Trump’s lawyers know that’s not the case.”
There are plenty of other lies being repeated ad nauseam by Republicans. I guess they are just following the Nazi dictum that “if you tell a lie often enough, people will start to believe it”.
UPDATE: Rep. Rose’s son, whose name is Guy, said his dad’s speech was “so boring“. I agree. Having all the Republicans parroting the same tired lies has to become pretty stale quickly.

Three days before the 2016 presidential election, “Judge Jeanine” Pirro on Fox News railed and ranted on why Hillary Clinton could not be president. There’s just one problem… her arguments back then were poor, but they apply completely and even more strongly to Donald Trump for the upcoming election.
Pirro says “We cannot have a country, led by a president subject to ongoing criminal investigations, potential indictments, and never ending hearings. We cannot have a president under that level of scrutiny, that inevitably leads to even more questions and more investigations.” As we all know, Trump is not only “under scrutiny”, but he has also been indicted multiple times, and has been convicted of 34 felonies.
Listen to the video, and whenever Pirro talks about Clinton, instead pretend she is talking about Trump this year. She presents an open and shut case why the American people cannot vote for Donald Trump.
What do you have to say about that, “Judge Jeanine”? Posting this, I can’t decide whether this should be filed under Hypocrisy or Irony. I guess I’ll go for both.

Famously, in his administration, Abraham Lincoln surrounded himself with a “Team of Rivals“. And now – in what might be the other bookend to the Republican Party – Donald Trump has surrounded himself with a “Team of Felons”.
Now that Trump has finally joined the convicted felon club, MSNBC has updated their list of Trump’s team. Here it is:
Donald Trump was charged, convicted, and is awaiting sentencing for committing 34 felonies.
Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
Trump’s former campaign vice chairman, Rick Gates, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
Trump’s former personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
Trump’s former adviser and former campaign aide, Roger Stone, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
Trump’s former adviser and former White House aide Peter Navarro, was charged, convicted, and is currently in prison.
Trump’s former campaign adviser, George Papadopoulos, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
The Trump Organization’s former CFO, Allen Weisselberg, was charged, convicted, and sentenced to prison.
Trump’s former White House national security advisor, Michael Flynn, was charged and convicted.
Trump’s former chief strategist, Steve Bannon, was charged with wire fraud and money laundering, in addition to a conviction in a contempt case similar to Navarro’s. He’s currently awaiting sentencing.
Though he was later acquitted at trial, Trump’s former inaugural committee chair, Tom Barrack, was charged with illegally lobbying Trump on behalf of a foreign government. (Elliot Broidy was the vice chair of Trump’s inaugural committee, and he found himself at the center of multiple controversies, and also pled guilty to federal charges related to illegal lobbying.)
Two lawyers associated with Trump’s post-defeat efforts, Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell, have pleaded guilty to election-related crimes.
On top of all the convicted felons, the Trump Organization was found guilty of tax fraud in 2022. Before that, there was his fraudulent “charity”, a fraudulent “university”, and many other criminal scams. What’s amazing is not that he was convicted, but that it took so long.
There is also the civil case that resulted in Trump being required to pay over $83 million dollars to E. Jean Carroll for sexually abusing her and repeatedly defaming her.
And it is interesting to note that the other thing that Trump is famous for is the TV show “The Apprentice”. Is Trump’s criminality contagious?
Once upon a time, the Republican Party claimed to be the party of “Law and Order”. But they are undoubtably going to keep Trump as their candidate for president. A sane political party would have dumped Trump a long time ago.
I’m really wondering why the media seems to report on pretty much every thing Trump does. I mean, I understand why Trump spends most of his time trying to get attention. He just spews out lie after lie, to feed his need for attention, and to create fatigue so that voters forget his previous lies.
What I don’t understand is why the media prints all this stuff. Remember when Trump’s current trial started, and news stations showed video of Trump’s car heading toward the court? Is this anything even vaguely related to being news?
I’ve really been enjoying Jimmy Kimmel lately. This video starts out talking seriously about Sexually Transmitted Infections, and you might wonder what this has to do with politics. But the punchline will get you.

Today, Donald Trump sent out a campaign fundraising email that claims that during a 2022 search for classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, that President Biden was “locked & loaded ready to take me out”. He also sent out a tweet.
Obviously, this is a complete and utter lie. The FBI purposely picked a day for the raid when Trump would not be there, to avoid a confrontation. They were just looking for illegally held classified documents, which they indeed found (even though Trump claimed he didn’t have any).
But what makes this ironic is that Trump and his lawyers have repeatedly claimed that as president, Trump had absolute immunity. Even to murder someone. Wouldn’t that mean that President Biden would have the same rights and powers?
Right after Donald Trump’s January 6 insurrection to steal the presidential election, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s house was flying a US flag upside-down, which Trump supporters use to claim that Joe Biden stole the 2020 election. Seriously? A Supreme Court Justice who believes the lie that Trump won the election?
So Alito blamed it on his wife. What a chicken-shit victim.
Then again, maybe it is just Justice Alito who is upside-down.
