Rugged Individualism and Self-reliance in the Welfare State

© Jeff Danziger Is this why people say “you’d have to pay me to live in Alaska”? In addition to being #1 in pork barrel spending, Alaska is the only state that has neither a state sales tax nor any personal income or capital gains taxes. A few weeks ago, Gov. Palin arranged a special […]

Palin made McCain’s “pork list” three times

McCain is touting his VP choice as a reformer who fought against earmarks (often called “pork”). But the LA Times has found that when Palin was mayor of Wasilla, she made McCain’s “Pork List” three times for requesting questionable earmarks for her small Alaska town. Among the projects in McCain’s Pork List that Palin requested was […]

McCain’s response: I wish I could have had the luxury, like you, of growing up and […]

I just don’t know about this Obama fellow

© Tom Tomorrow The Electoral Vote site has an excellent analysis on whether governmental experience is any predictor of how good a president will be. For example, James Buchannan was the most experienced person ever elected president, but he is considered to be one of the worst (only slightly edged out by Warren G. Harding […]

Fox News goes Ironic

The Fox News website posts a “No Spin Poll” asking “What is the most biased news outlet in America?” and gives four choices. Ironically, none of the choices is Fox News itself: from eyje. The choices are the New York Times, MSNBC, Associated Press, and NPR. Gee, I guess they forgot the Washington Post!
