It’s a good thing I have sworn off posting articles about Sarah Palin. If I were posting anything about her (like everyone else), I’d point out the hypocrisy of her continuously using the phrase “lamestream media” when in fact her only job for the last few years has been working for Fox News (the lamest of the lamestream media). But I’m not posting articles about Palin, so you didn’t read that here.
But here’s something even more bizarre. We all know that Palin and reality are not good friends, but who would have thought that her supporters would try to rewrite history in order to match Palin’s bizarrely botched version? Apparently, some wingnuts are trying to edit the Wikipedia page about Paul Revere so that it matches Palin’s gaffe about Paul Revere ringing bells to warn the British to keep their hands off our guns.
UPDATE: Palin and the law are not good friends either. Apparently her bus tour has been breaking traffic laws right and left, speeding, running both red lights and stop signs, and making dangerous maneuvers. And the reporters following her are doing even worse, since Palin refuses to release a schedule of where she is going.
UPDATE 2: Jon Stewart nails it again:

Yet another item filed away in my brain for the next time a Republican furiously tries to connect benign government behavior to 1984.
I just remain thoroughly amazed at te media following this women around. I can understand Fox, but everyone else? If the media truly believes her to be insignificant, why on earth do they continue to validate her, and make more money for her. Truly ironic.
Yup, and I’m just as guilty. Although in my own defense, I am more captivated by the bizarre fact that the media is captivated by her than by Palin herself. I watched a video last week of an interview with her, and could not for the life of me figure out what anyone sees in her or why the media gives her any attention at all.
But they do, and then I report on that giving her even more attention, and the loop continues. Sigh.
“Apparently her bus tour has been breaking traffic laws right and left, speeding, running both red lights and stop signs, and making dangerous maneuvers”
I remember another ‘princess’ that was hunted relentlessly by the press.
Please, let’s not make a martyr of this woman… I’m already confused enough by her persona.
Anyone else hear about Fox putting up a picture of Tina Fey when talking about Palin?
No U, that is priceless.
She’s a lightning rod of attention because from one side she is a hero and from another she is an entertaining ditz.
This is less about Palin, I think, and more about the mindset of those who would cater to her.
The reasoning behind the attempted Wikipedia edits is astounding. According to this logic, anyone who gets national media attention and who says anything about anything immediately has worthwhile weight to add to the subject, no matter how unsupported or wildly inaccurate it may be. We may as well add “disputed” or “alternate” versions to every bit of history or U.S. policy she gets wrong.
Why couldn’t Palin had just said, “I had a brain freeze and said ‘British’ accidentally”? I don’t understand her constant “doubling down” and refusing ever to admit an error or lack of knowledge. Just like Anthony Wiener who on multiple occasions chastised reporters for asking him questions while he was blatantly lying to them.
If Wiener had just said, “Yep, I totally screwed up,” he would have gained credibility as someone with the balls (sorry) to finally admit up front to an indiscretion. And if Palin had merely said “oops” she would have avoided the extended ridicule. I’ve called my kids by the wrong name (and even called them by my pets’ names), but I don’t follow that up by insisting that my son’s name is Kozmo.
Just like above, I did NOT type “had”. I swear that reads “have”. You’re wrong if you disagree.
I think what Palin is doing is wonderful, her goal is obviously to show how bad our education system is. She’s doing a remarkable job
Here’s the link for the Tina Fey / Palin mixup: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/oops-fox-news-uses-tina-fey-graphic-in-sarah-palin-story/ I saw it, but somehow it didn’t seem ironic at all 🙂
Sammy, I usually fix mistakes that people correct, but your correction is too funny, so I’ll leave it.
And Sammy, see the video from the Daily Show about Palin denying that she made a mistake that I just added to the original post.
A Weiner without balls….wow, I think this may be the perfect metaphor for the Democratic Party.
Thanks!

IK, I suspect the reason the media is franticly following Palin is because she is a train wreck,( or bus wreck in this case) in progress and they would love to catch the instance of first contact of crushing metal on tape. But like a drunken teenager on a drinking binge she continually scrapes fender after fender and it just isn’t enough for the media.
She’s the Zaphod Beeblebrox of Earth.
Sammy – calling your kid the dog’s name – that is hilarious. There were six of us and my mom eventually just started saying, “you there”. 🙂
