My question is, does Megyn Kelly actually believe the lies she tells, or does she simply not know the difference between reality and fantasy?
ROUND TWO: Bill O’Reilly goes to the defense of Megyn Kelly and shows that he has an equally weak grasp of reality:

It’s not just Megyn Kelly who has a hard time with facts at Fox. It would appear that Fox’s corporate atmosphere/environment promotes an alternate reality that sucks many of their on-air personalities into believing that if they say it and it jives with the corporate view, it must be true. Stewart has found fodder for far to many of these little exposes. I still find them funny, but it’s almost too easy for his team.
Judging by how many Fox News entertainers seem to be completely unaware of what is going on on the network, this leads me to an undeniable conclusion: none of them watch it.
See, you’ve got more in common with the people at Fox News than you thought! 😉

Jon even showed someone invoking Hitler (via Brownshirts) on her show, while she was sitting there. I guess she doesn’t watch her own show, even when she is right there while it is being recorded.
To be perfectly fair, a guest on the show spouting hyperbole is not the same thing as the figureheads doing it; it cannot be assumed that the network agrees with the views of its guests. I would have liked to have seen footage of Kelly agreeing with the guy – that would have been priceless.
Fortunately, they had plenty of footage of Beck and O’Relly using those tactics, which confirms that Kelly was flat out wrong to deny it.
Maybe Megyn Kelly only watches the “news” portions of Fox News. Keep in mind that Fox does not list their “Fox and Friends” show, Bill O’Reilly, Glenn Beck, or any of their other major names as news, but as entertainment.
Then again, maybe they just don’t pay attention. It seems to work when they invoke things like socialism, communism, fascism without realizing that they are misinterpreting what these actually mean.
Not that I’m defending Fox News, but I actually think it is legitimate when describing propaganda techniques to mention that techniques such as the “big lie” — if not invented — were certainly perfected by the Nazis. I do it myself (see https://www.politicalirony.com/2009/08/10/how-to-pick-the-worst-possible-health-care-examples/) but I try to be careful to only use the term Nazi to apply to the techniques, and not to the people using them.
After all, even though Hitler himself had a direct hand in the creation of the Volkswagen, it would be stupid to accuse someone of “driving a Nazi car”.
