To me, the point that this video actually makes is that the term “conservative” has lost its meaning.

“the term “conservative” has lost its meaning” as has the term liberal. Actually, the concept of labeling any individual as either conservative or liberal long ago lost its value to a rigorous debate.
On a point made in the video -> Reagan increased the size of government more than any President in decades by most standards (number of federal employees, size of federal budget, level of contracting, etc.). The size of the deficit is not a valid measure of the size of the federal government, but rather the size of the disparity between the budget and income.
Which administration made the largest reduction in the size of the federal workforce since who knows when? Clinton/Gore and I include Gore in this context because he was the individual responsible for the implementation of the administration’s efficiency in government program.
one big reason we have more immigration from Mexico is because of WTO rules that allow dumping of cheap corn on the Mexican market which prevents farmers there from making a living there.
Hmmm, I wonder who started that?
Dan, here’s a link to a CBS article about how NAFTA has been putting Mexican corn farmers out of business. The average corn grower in the US receives a subsidy of $20,000 a year. The Mexican government gives their farmers $100 a year. As a result, as of 2006, 2 million farm workers had lost their jobs, many of whom moved to the US illegally to work on the US (subsidized) farms. And according to the article, in 2008 NAFTA will have eliminated the last limits on US corn exports, resulting in even more out-of-work farmers.
Hmmm, isn’t that about when drug violence started flaring up in Mexico? After all, if you can’t sell your corn any more, what other crops would you want to grow?
