That’s how corrupt business and our government works, NOT the free market necessarily.
“That’s how corrupt business and our government works, NOT the free market necessarily.”
The free market is the pathway to corrupt businesses. And what does this have to do with government at all? If there was more government oversight this would’ve never happened in the first place.
“If there was more government oversight this would’ve never happened in the first place.”
There was government oversight and it did happen. I’ll fix it for you:
If the government had never capped BP’s liability this wouldn’t have happened in the first place.
“The tax payers can take care of the mess, that’s how the free market works, you know!”
Are you serious? So you’re saying if there was a free market (which there is not) that their solution to this leak would be to take money from people in the form of taxes? I think you’ve mistaken Socialism for free markets.
Mike, it is called “sarcasm”.
It’s quite often that socilism is used in the corporations’ favor, we all remember “too big to fail”, subsidies, and everybody’s favorite “tax breaks for moving jobs overseas”. There is no true free market in America, but some interference by the government is normal and necessary. Therefore, some regulation and limits are necessary. Look around you where you sit, every building built in America over the last century had to meet one restriction or another. Look at the results of the disaster in Haiti due to a small quake and very lax building codes. To see the result of a true free market in the building world. There is no such thing as a true free market and hopefully never will be. One of the major functions of government, one that failed us here in this case, is to regulate commerce. The gutting of oversight of the oil industry needs to be repaired, strenghtened and given teeth.
This is a very good post for me. I think you should add more video and pictures because it helps visitors 🙂
