Brilliant. That really says it all. Hopefully this reality is starting to dawn on people. This isn’t about left vs. right. It’s about the health of the American people vs. the profits of the insurance industry.
I imagine a cartoon where an Army doctor says, “I’d like to save your life, but that would be socialized medicine.”
Hmm. Yea, I’d rather have the government with their thumb in my ass. They seem so responsible*.
*Please ignore war in Iraq, war in Afghanistan, anti-gay marriage, control over all things we use,…
Would our troops rather have private insurance company bean counters deciding whether or not to provide care to them? I sincerely doubt it.
American people vs Insurance profits? Guess again. How about American people vs the end of a way of life of a free people. This has nothing to do with health care and everything to do with controling every aspect of our once-free lives for filthy lucor (and I did mean locur not liquor Ted).
First, it’s a riot that all the comments repeating the bitching about the government being too incompetent to offer an efficiently run public health insurance option never seem to offer any real alternatives to the abysmal status quo. If you don’t have anything substantive to offer in the debate, STFU and go home. You’re just adding to the misinformation. No wonder why most Americans are still confused about the real issues surrounding the health care reform debate. I want reform, and I am open to possible alternatives, not more fear, uncertainty, and doubt.
Second, to those bemoaning the end of a way of life as a free people, what alternate reality are you living in? After the trauma of two world wars, a depression, and now this “great recession”, is it not obvious by now that what affects one person, one group, etc. affects all of us Americans? We’re all in this together. If you rugged individualists really don’t buy this “liberal crap”, then I would like FICA to stop taking money out of my paycheck to pay for your grandparents’ Social Security checks, and you can stop asking your senators and representatives for all that federal money to subsidize [insert crop or useless pork program here]. I, for one, would welcome my tax dollars no longer helping states with smaller populations and lower tax revenues. According to conservative logic, shouldn’t they be self-sufficient and not a burden on everyone else?
