I have to add that it would have been worse if today’s media had presided during Watergate. Would Woodward or Bernstein be able to publish their exposé of Watergate today?

The Woodward’s and Bernstein’s are plugging away but their stories are being postponed indefinitely or killed by their editors because of the corporatocracy that owns everything and who have managed to put the Government in their pockets.
If you watch PBS you KNOW that some journalists win the high stakes chess game sometimes.
W & B would have totally been able to uncover the story. The media would have just ignored it completely. And any unlikely mention of it by pundits would have only been in the context of how unAmerican they were for revealing it.

But don’t you see, it isn’t funny, because that exact outcome (“case closed”) has been Cheney’s goal ever since Watergate. Cheney advanced the theory of “inherent power” so that another episode of holding a president accountable could never take place.

Note that Nixon was threatened with impeachment for “a third-rate burglary” he tried to cover up. All it was really was a burglary, some firings and an 18-minute gap in some tapes. That was it. But he broke the law. So what does this murderous moron masquerading as president deserve for lying us into a war, massive government-wide fraud, raping the Constitution and using torture as a bit of “war on terror” improv? Whatever it is, it won’t be a Congress devoid of brains, integrity, guts and vision that will give it to him.
I hope bush gets a third term in office. How awesome would that be!

Great Cartoon!! It sums up everything! However, we do know–given the MSM & Woodward’s butt licking of bush–that the media would do even less than nothing, and the Wash Post-Times would be comparing bush & Nixon as heroic, honest leaders.

I hope more people are beginning to understand the far-reaching scope of the platform like Ron Paul’s.
Government transparancy was one of the explicitly stated policy issues of Ron Paul. Furthermore, he pledged to “never use Executive priviledge to deny information to the Congress.”
Ron Paul would also have us return to the 19th Century. Your messiah is crazy, not because he wants to restore the constitution, but because of everything else he believes in. You are not being ignored, you’re being dismissed.
