The town of Scottsdale, Virginia has your typical Fourth of July parade, but here’s an interesting juxtaposition. In the first photo is challenger Tom Perriello, the democratic nominee for Congress, riding on a float pulled by a bio-diesel fueled tractor:

a Hummer. Ā Just to add a bit of hypocrisy, Goode talks a lot about energy independence and alternative energy on his website. Maybe he could claim that it was wind powered — pulling a float full of hot air.

Celebrating American Freedoms on Independence Day
Congressman Goode did not bring the Hummer, for a matter of fact. The flag toting American driver is Ty Wigal, a member of the Fluvanna Repbulicans and ardent supporter of Congressman Goode. The vehicle is owned and operated by an individual other than Virgil. Funny how personal freedom and hard work allow for such a thing. What is more American than a Hummer driving down Main Street America on the 4th of July? Drill now, and harness the billions of gallons of oil under our own land. We could all drive Hummers then. At least, those of us who own and operate a successful small business in America
I just found this post on “related posts” and it reminded me of how Virgil Goode got beat for this seat… and that made me happy. Now let’s hope that Tom P. wins a second term. He’s been a good congressman so far.
