Normally it is the liberals who are doing all the infighting, with conservatives all reading from the same talking points. But James Dobson’s Focus on the Family has pulled an interview with Glenn Beck from one of its websites in response to protest from a group of their followers that claims that “Mormonism is a cult”. Beck, the former CNN host who is moving to Fox News in January, is a Mormon.
The subject of the interview was Beck’s book, “The Christmas Sweater”, which remains at the top of the NY Times bestseller list. Does this mean that Focus on the Family is anti-Christmas?

I used to worry about these type of biases but in the end I think it will all work out. People will realize the value that Mormons bring to the conservative movement as witnessed by our Prop. 8 efforts.
Mormons are evil. It is ironic that a religious group that openly supported polygamy until the late 1800’s and by some estimates still have between 30,000 and 75,000 members (about 1% and 2% of the state of Utah’s population)living in polygamist families is willing to spend over twenty million dollars (more than half of the budget behind proposition 8)to protect the outdated notion that marriage should be between one man and one woman.
This is the same church that conducted a national broadcast to every temple, calling on members to organize and write checks to the Prop. 8 campaign. The same church that continues to spend exorbitant sums to mislead the public and attempt to transform its image.
Anti-LGBT groups have spread mistruths to defeat us and it’s what they are going to continue doing. I, for one, am tired of this. If your religion says that same sex marriage is wrong, then don’t marry someone of the same sex. Simple. Leave the rest of us out of it.
And Glenn has now responded:
“Whatever your beliefs about my religion, the concept of religious tolerance is too important to be sacrificed in response to pressure from special interest groups, especially when it means bowing to censorship.”
