It seems like Florida governor, Trump wannabe, and potential presidential aspirant in 2024, Ron DeSantis, likes to use stunts to get attention. There’s just one problem — they seem to backfire on him. Yes, I’ve seen it written that DeSantis is a smarter version of Donald Trump, but that must be an awfully low bar. Here’s two examples:
Back in August, DeSantis bragged loudly about arresting 20 people for voting illegally because of previous felony convictions. One of them was dragged out of his house by police in his underwear. But there is a big problem — the arrested people had been told by their local election boards that they were eligible to vote. Why did this mix-up happen? Because the state (notably run by DeSantis) is required to notify the election boards of people who are not allowed to vote, but they failed to do that. Oops!
And the most recent one is DeSantis bragging (again loudly) because he dumped a group of Venezuelan refugees, without warning, in upscale Martha’s Vineyard. Note that these migrants were not from Florida at all. DeSantis chartered a plane, which picked up the non-English-speakers in Texas, had the plane stop briefly in Florida, and then fly them to Massachusetts. Just the cost of the flight was $615,000, which comes out to $12,300 per migrant.
Even worse, Immigration law experts say that DeSantis broke the law by trafficking migrants. But DeSantis doesn’t care. He doubled down, saying he will keep doing it. The Florida legislature allocated $12 million to transport “unauthorized aliens out of Florida”. But these people didn’t come from Florida, he picked them up in San Antonio, Texas.
DeSantis was trying to “own the libs” by dumping these migrants on Martha’s Vineyard, an upscale island that passed legislation making it a “sanctuary city”. Apparently DeSantis thought this would make the community look hypocritical when they couldn’t take care of the migrants, but this also backfired.
What happened, instead, was that residents of Martha’s Vineyard rallied to provide food, shelter, clothing and services. The asylum seekers are now on their way to Cape Cod, to receive further assistance. The stunt failed to make its intended point.
Is this the best he can do? If he keeps screwing up, there’s no way he will be president. In fact, he might even lose his governorship in the upcoming election.

I guess the Republicans are all in on human trafficking. Who knew what they were whinging on about for all these years was something they actively practice?!?
And DeathSentence has about as much chance of winning the presidency n 2024 as does Mango Messiah.
Turns out three states are involved. Not just Florida and Texas, but Arizona, as well.
Should be win-win for everyone I guess? The immigrants can get a better life/job at city/state that welcome them. The sanctuary city/state can take care of them to show their moral superiority. Border states who do not want them, can send them away.
If it is concerned that laws are broken, yes, then government should start in order of what was broken. The illegal immigrants broke the law. So they cant punish governors for breaking laws without punishing illegals.
Or his “base” is so willing to buy whatever BS the trumpian “geniuses” are spewing will view these as elegant solutions defeated by the meanie libtards.
Since Death Santis broke the law and can now be considered a Coyote, let’s treat him as one. We seize assets of traffickers, let’s start by seizing the vehicles used in transporting illegals. That is just a start.
Now if we are willing to transport illegal immigrants to northern cities, let’s do it the legal way. First off don’t hire an immigrant to recruit others lying to them on where and what awaits. Second this will have to be coordinated with the destination cities to allow preparation to assist with the transition. And last but not least Do Not falsify their documents which is an automatic deportation. Death Santis did not do these people any favors, he was trampling on children in a Trumpian tradition in order to gain power.He should in no uncertain terms be allowed to be in charge of any thing short of a dog pound.
I’m booked on Southwest in November for a multi-leg trip MA-TX-FL-RI for less than $750. Somebody got very rich on this stupidity.
Next thing we will here about DeSantis shoving migrants out of a plane with no winter clothing at the North Pole after telling them that there is plenty of work at Santa’s work shop. And the Right will be going nuts because Santa didn’t provide food and clothing. How bold will there lies get, is there no end? It’s about to be winter in Martha’s Vinyard, the summer work season is winding down so I guess DeSantis expects the migrants having no money, no potential for work have a future this winter there. He might as well sent them to the North Pole. Heartless bastard if you ask me.
Hassan, none of them are “illegal immigrants”, they are asylum seekers, which is completely different, and definitely legal.
