Personally, I wish more people had worn masks and been fully vaccinated. Considering that around 6 million (and counting) people have died from Covid-19, it was obviously incumbent on us to do everything we could to combat it. After all, when 6 million people died from the Holocaust, we didn’t wonder afterward whether or not we should have fought the Nazis.

Ugh. I think it’s nuts that people think this is over. I live in Kentucky and all along, my town has been divided. Half of the population has had covid. Fortunately, deaths have been relatively low at around 100, but nurses are exhausted and quitting and the national guard is here filling in. Both hospitals are full of covid cases. I just had a hip replacement and was sent home after 5 hours of recovery because there were no beds.
I think covid will come back with a vengeance as it continues to mutate. But, maybe that’s what the human condition is all about now, self annihilation. Putin sure is speeding up that outcome. Very depressing times…
Last fall (2020) the hospitals and doctors’ offices geared up for flu season, getting everything they needed for flu season. and all their equipment went to waste because people did not catch the flu. The answer is right there. Masks save lives.
I went to the vet. No one had masks. I was thrilled that the vet had made sure all her staff had the vaccine. And this fall she is shocked at the number who have been out sick with FLU because they weren’t wearing masks.
I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. I live in basic wilderness. When I make my monthly trip to town I’ve been wearing a mask for about 20 years now. I’m just waiting for a maskless person to come up to me and tell me the mask mandate has been lifted. (we have a 25% smoking rate in this town) I have my spiel all ready “Oh, that is wonderful. Where did you read that smoking has been barred in this town. YOu mean I no longer have to wear a mask because people can’t smoke?” I can see the person walk away thinking “Crazy lady”
I called my urologist office to see if he was still in the US or had gone back to Pakistan during the pandemic. The receptionist said “You haven’t been here for two years,” in her snotty voice. “Yes,I’ve been in isolation.” “Isolation?” she replied. “Yes, there is a pandemic.” in my irritable voice. “oh,” she said.
