The noose is slowly tightening around Donald Trump. Government employees are ignoring his orders to disobey congressional subpoenas, which is Trump’s own fault since he has shown that being loyal to him doesn’t make you any less likely to be thrown under a bus (or two). And you’ll notice that Republicans no longer dispute any of the facts of the impeachment. Instead, they pull desperate stunts, like refusing to leave the room where witnesses are going to be questioned.
There is pretty much no question that Trump is going to be impeached. The only question is how many GOP Senators will have the guts to vote to convict him.

I wish Republicans would stop thinking of President Trump as a fellow Republican for whom they’re responsible and must protect. He isn’t. Until he hijacked the Party, Republican values were diametrically opposed to much of what he’s doing and stands for. They need to be saying that. He’s not one of them. He’s a renegade, a mad dog, and, from the looks of it, a criminal. No Republican needs to stand up for that. If we could get rid of Trump, we’d have a chance of getting back to addressing the important issues about which the Republican Party has historically had important and valuable insights and ideas. We need those. None us need Trump.
@Mountain Man: This is categorically untrue. donnie is an outcome of the last 40 years of republican party goals which can be summed up as “screw you as long as I get mine” – catering to megacorporations, attack gays, targeting women, placing moneyed interests over those of the United States. McConnell’s wife is a major player in China, Clarence Thomas’ wife makes millions as a public speaker where her only qualification is being married to a Supreme Court justice, the repubs have kowtowed to anti-abortion and gun nuts for decades, and have supported fascists across the planet. The only difference now is that they’ve seen that they won’t experience consequences (Bush/Cheney should’ve been charged with war crimes, Oliver North has been re-legitimized, all the assholes that fucked us during Reagan/Bush I/Bush II are still pulling the strings behind donnie) so they’re all saying the quiet part loud.
It is true that extremists on both sides have done plenty of damage and it’s easy to cherry pick examples of “Those bad __________ (Democrats/Republicans)all do bad stuff because some of them do bad stuff.” For my money I think both sides should give the extremists the boot. Neither side is as bad as the extremists in either party like to tell us. To me, politics and physical health both operate best when the principle of “moderation in all things” is followed. I prefer to believe the best about my fellow people and, in a long life, I’ve not been let down very often.
