And his(Trump) cultist base would not care. Trump has made Russia thing/investigation partisan and tribal. Trump is no Nixon, if he goes down, he will take country down with him. Best bet of surivial of country is to maintain some level of oversight/sanity of institutions, and then vote him out

Depressing but probably right, article Hassan. When you think about this, Trump and his largely evangelical, gun loving, followers are now in control of this country, in spite of the fact that they are a minority. And there appears to be little zeal from the rest of us to do anything about that fact. The ignorance on both sides and lethargy from the other 60 plus percent is frightening. We are easily distracted, easily bored. We need someone who can fire people up. We need a new Bernie Sanders in a younger form. Someone who can keep the focus where it needs to be. As far as I’m concerned, we need to ignore everything that is going on and try to take down McConnell. He is the clog in the toilet. Forget the investigations, forget Trumps ramblings, threats and temper tantrums, forget the shut down, and focus on McConnell. He is THE problem at this moment in time.
Re: the evangelists: The guardian had an article on them. There is someone in the Bible named Cyrus who was an Atheist who led the Jews to the Promise land, so it make it all right for an Atheist to lead them. So much for “People will never vote for an Atheist” OK, I got voted in as President of the Bridge Club. 🙂
