For a president who claims to be the best deal-maker, Donald Trump sure doesn’t deliver. Over and over again, when he is asked about a promised deal, Trump will say that it is coming in just “two weeks“. It is just a stalling tactic, because it rarely does arrive in that time frame.
He said it about his tax proposal, promising it in “two to three weeks” and bragging that it was “way ahead of schedule”. Eleven weeks later, the White House released a one-page outline of the tax plan, with no details.
Fifteen weeks ago, Trump promised airline executives a plan for increased aviation infrastructure in two weeks. On Monday, he sent a short set of “principles” for overhauling the air-traffic control system, which basically only proposed to privatize it.
On April 29, Trump promised “I’ll be making a big decision on the Paris accord over the next two weeks.” A month later, Trump was still trying to decide. He finally made an announcement on June 1.
He said the same thing about his infrastructure program, saying “we’ve got the plan largely completed and we’ll be filing over the next two or three weeks, maybe sooner”. No legislation was ever filed.
On March 15, Fox News asked Trump about his earlier tweets accusing Obama of wiretapping Trump Tower without providing even the smallest shred of evidence. Trump replied “I think you’re going to find some very interesting items coming to the forefront over the next two weeks.” The White House never produced any evidence, and top intelligence officials told Congress that there was no evidence.
He even does it to foreign leaders. During a meeting in Saudi Arabia with the emir of Kuwait, Trump announced “We are doing very well in the fight against ISIS. We’re going to be having a news conference in about two weeks to let everybody know how well we’re doing.” But the White House press office was unaware of any plans to have such a news conference, and two weeks have now passed and no such event has even been announced.
And on and on. He said similar things about the border wall, fixing veterans’ health care, cutting taxes, repealing regulations, changing regulations that regulates wages on federally funded infrastructure projects, and a plan for increasing school choice. Or worse — on June 1, Trump even claimed that there was tax legislation “moving along in Congress”, but no tax legislation had been filed.
As one presidential historian put it “For someone who bills himself as the master of the art of the deal, well, where’s the art and where’s the deal?”

Trump still has it. After all 30% of the public still approve of him. So he’s either selling the “art” of the deal to them, or that 30% is stubborn or that 30% is worse than stubborn.

Whether he gets impeached or not, this seems highly inappropriate behavior especially since comey was fired. Quite a few people complained about Bill clinton meeting the AG privately before the election last year. It would be quite hyprocritical is those people don’t have a problem with what trump did with comey.
Trump talked about how voting for Clinton would result in a president who is forever underneath a cloud of investigation. Well, Karma is a bitch.
Trump is a Bullshit artist extraordinaire. While he may excel in BS we should all be thankful that he is as inept as he is ignorant.
And his is the first time in history that the President of France will speak better English than the President of America.
I’m just happy to know that, in spite of us having a Republican president, what few moderates remain in Congress have so far managed to keep the really crazy things proposed by the alt-right from being passed. So far.
In two weeks, we’ll have some very interesting information coming out about the Russia-Trump relationship.
Zero (0, count ’em!) tweets from the @realDonaldTrump all day, a rarity indeed. The silence is deafening and speaks volumes. Sounds like someone is worried enough to finally be listening to his lawyer and zip it. Be interesting to see how long he can hold his twitter fire, it must be killing him. His presser tomorrow should be interesting too, if only to hear what questions he deflects or responds to.

True to form, @realDonaldTrump was predictably back at it early this morning, going right for Comey’s jugular, accusing him of lying (perjury in this case, as he was under oath), praising Fox and Friends for their “great reporting” (so that’s what that is!) and of course playing the God card with the Faith and Freedom Coalition because, you know, He must be paid lip service by all true patriots at trying times like this.
Speaking of lying, I hope the irony isn’t lost on us that Trump has kind of tweeted himself into a corner by suggesting there might be a recording of his private conversation(s) with Comey. Either there is or isn’t a “tape” (i.e. mp3 or such). If there is, it behooves him to produce it to prove his claim Comey is lying. If there isn’t (and he doesn’t admit to it, which he won’t), it’s tantamount to Trump have lied himself about said tape’s existence or, at the very least, reveal him to be the deceptive con-man anyone with half a brain knows him to be.
I missed today’s press conference but hear he has offered to testify under oath to the special prosecutor. I hope Mueller takes him up on it, because by all accounts, Mueller doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that falls for a bluff or suffers fools gladly, even if they happen to be President.
Ralph, in Trump’s interview today he was asked if such recordings exist. His response is hilarious given this post — he said he wouldn’t say now whether he had tapes or not, but instead he would wait “a fairly short period of time” and then tell the public whether the tapes exist. In other words, another way to say “two weeks”.
