At this point, Donald Trump has screwed up so badly that it will make it next to impossible for the Republicans to pass any of their more radical agenda like repealing the ACA, privatizing Medicare, further widening the gap between wealthy and poor by rewriting the tax code, or destroying the environment.
In fact, we should no longer be hoping that Trump gets impeached, as Mike Pence combined with a Republican Congress would probably do far more damage to the US. Well, unless Trump decides that we need a pre-emptive nuclear strike against some country that annoys him.

To be honest Pence or, based on recent revelations even he may go down, ryan would be better than trump. They are saner and less childish and would at least introduce a sense of decency into washington. That said it would be a while if it does come to that. Most of all I want to want to know why Trump is so indebted to Flynn or at least why he has a soft spot for him.

Pence? I just hope he turns out to be involved with Drumpf and friends as just a big a crook. Frankly, I don’t think that will happen. He’d be scary conservative and probably re-electable. Very sad.

So, I’m not sure saner would be a word I especially use for either of them. Not crazy like Drumpf, but crazy in their own neo-con, selfish sort of way.
I will still take Trump over the other two. We need him to keep up the crazy until we find out how the next election goes.
Hate to be the wet blanket in the house, but it doesn’t look like Trump will be going anywhere soon, short of choking out on a taco bowl or whopper. Vice News gave a rundown on the four ways a President can lose office. The first two, death or resignation, don’t seem very likely (though we can always hope). Impeachment is a long slog and given the present makeup of Congress, would take a revelation of Nixonian proportions to get a majority of Republicans on board. Perhaps Mueller can speed things along some but I wouldn’t count on anything before the mid-term elections and significant GOP losses, and besides, these investigations can take years (900 days for Nixon). The fourth, the 25th Amendment, is an even longer shot and has never been attempted in US history. The following 3-minute video is informative, and sobering.

On the plus side, all the chaos and distraction has derailed the Republican agenda for the foreseeable future, so there’s at least that.
