And this week, Trump managed to get everyone to completely forget about everything: all his failures, the internal feuds inside his administration, the fact that the Senate stopped being a “deliberative body”, and even the latest news about his increasingly worrisome connections with Russia. He did this simply by bombing Syria.

Are you going to talk about the 24 million Obama spent in travel expenses in two years, vs the 24 million Trump has spent in two and a half months? That is 960 million if he stayed eight years or almost a trillion.

If we are at war we have to reelect the standing president. Can’t change presidents during war time. Or at least that’s what we were told weren’t we, during the Shrub’s first term?
Put on a somber face, talk about the poor babies, invoke a higher power, look presidential, and bomb the hell out of someplace. Some of his “people” are mad about this, but they will soon be convinced of the necessity of his actions and come back into the fold.
Except for during sex, I suspect the word god has issued from his mouth more in the last year than the entire previous 70 years put together. And as I think about that last comment, I wonder if the god that people pray to, is happy about his name coming up so much during sex. I often wonder strange things.
This is extremely sad state of affair. I am not sure why people (congress really) cannot be supportive of and against president based on issues. It seems partisanship causes all or nothing.
For example a house member can be supportive of Trump’s supreme court nominee while being against his out of control expenses of travel and family living in New York. Also extreme nepotism and various conflicts of interests. Do people really not care about corruption? What is wrong with them. Something has to happen, and fast to save this country before becoming third world country.
Now he has started war, and not surprisingly war hawks of the establishment from both democrats and republicans are satisfied. Perhaps democrats may not have been much happy, but they were taunting Trump that he is not doing anything, this (Syria) is now his problem etc. So now they have no choice to support him on it.
There are genuine (consistent) people on both parties that wanted congress to debate and authorize this war. But unfortunately there is no precedence for that lately.
On Oct. 9, 2012, Donald Twit tweeted: “Now that Obama’s poll numbers are in tailspin – watch for him to launch a strike in Libya or Iran. He is desperate.”
Substituting “Obama’s” with “Trump’s” and “Libya or Iran” with “Syria” may provide a peek inside the brain droppings of our Golfer in Chief.
I might be less skeptical about his crocodile tears over pictures of gassed babies, or the strike on the Syrian airfield (which was back in business within 36 hours), if he was as motivated towards helping said babies and their families escape the carnage there before they were gassed, instead of his obsession pandering to his paranoid and racist base with unconstitutional attempts to ban Muslim immigration from countries that, to date, have done us no harm.
The hypocrisy is strong with this one.
Oh yeah, almost forgot this little gem. On Aug. 30, 2013, @realDonaldTrump twittered: “The President must get Congressional approval before attacking Syria – big mistake if he does not!”
Yeah, but that was so then, this is now, amiright?
Given: Trumps past statments on foreign intervention – Syria specifically; the dysfunction among his administration; his ever increasing domestic crises; the fact that the Russians were informed ahead of time (certainly with enough time for the Assad regime to prepare); Trumps $$ interests in Raytheon (Tomahawk missile manufacturer); it seems like such a small addition to put Putin one little step ahead of this in creating up the chemical weapons event with his friend Mr. Assad to help out his friend Mr. Trump.
Look at it another way: When Obama was on the other side of the table, there was too much risk and uncertainty for Putin or Assad to risk raising the stakes. Obama and Kerry kept the use of chemical wepaons in check for years with total absolute political mastery (I use the term very sparingly). No sooner does Trump come along, but they feel very safe in using chemical weapons. That either means Trump is percieved as weaker than Obama and / or that he’s a known entity to Putin and Assad.
Anyone still think Trump is strong and presidential?
James, Assad used his chemical weapons after Obama drew red line, and also he been using some sort of chemical weapons since then, without getting caught. Obama was obsessed with appeasing Iran, otherwise he would have bombed Syria.

Noty, I like that article. Thanks for posting. My only thought was, that even if everything he says is true, that nothing will come of it. It’s leverage to keep Trump from vetoing bills they want passed and he doesn’t. I’m not sure what it will take for them to impeach, but I don’t think this is it. As long as he is useful, they will overlook almost anything. Now a nice juicy scandal about Mitch McConnell would be sweet. Please, please let there be a scandal about him soon.
