Ironically, we were just talking about Sidney.
We are already packing. I have British dual citizenship and my company has offices in Canada, London and Australia – I have already requested a transfer.

I thought the electoral college didn’t meet until December 19th. Do the cubans in Florida really want to go back to communism under Putin? “The enemies of my enemies is my friend.”
Also can Trump be president if he is a convicted Felon? He has lots of lawsuits between now and January 20th.
Woke up this morning stunned to discover my country had voted itself back to the 19th Century.
Remember the good old days when Repos derided Obama as a “rock star”? Turns out what the masses really wanted was a circus act and (sur)reality TV star.

I knew that “stupid” was rampant in the country, but I underestimated the degree.
For some reason, I woke this morning with the compelling memory of a Battlestar Galactica scene. The Cylons are marching on a planet that the humans thought was safe. Now I really understand how they felt.
At least the popular vote went for Hillary. Considering all four candidates, neither Clinton not Trump won a majority. We can refute the idea that a majority of Americans voted for racism, mysogony, or paranoia. Only some of Trump’s supporters voted for those reasons. Others, no doubt, wanted to “blow things up” due to frustration with the ineffectiveness of congress over the past six years.
I suspect (but don’t have the data to know) that the results skew more big-D Democrat the younger the slice of the electorate. Even with just the shift of demographics over time, in four years the results might well be different.
IK, I understand the desire to escape. If you choose to do so, perhaps you’ll be excited to return in time.
With control of the both houses, we are in danger because of past efforts and discussions, of losing the EPA, Roe V Wade, ACA, Medicare, Social Security, vast swaths of federal land and the national parks will be for sale. The supreme court will be stuffed with young, male, right wingers and the damage they can do will last long past my time here.
I feel sorrow for my children and my sole grandson. It will be a different world. I can remember being able to see the air in St. Louis growing up. Being told that girls couldn’t do this or that. While struggling with high school algebra having my male teacher tell me, (instead of helping me), not to worry about it because he never failed girls. Having to have my father sign when I opened my first checking account. Being paid half of what the guys did when I worked. Being told by my father that I didn’t need to go to college because I would just get married. Being told I could not buy screens for my house without my husbands approval and presence when the purchase was made. Being ignored when I walked into a car dealership. Being told I could not get a tubal ligation after the birth of my second child unless my husband permitted it. Being ignored when I walked into a computer store back in the day when only men used computers. Picking a screen name that could not be recognized as female because if they thought I was, I would be excluded from the conversations. I REALLY DO NOT want to return to those days, but I think it’s probably going to happen to some extent.
If I could escape this I would. But I have to stay here and hope for the best. But I’m afraid the best is not going to make me very happy, nor make me feel secure again. I’m a real Debby Downer today and I expect that to last for some time. I’m off to have a stiff drink.
Sorry but this was not a legitimate election. The FBI put a thumb on the scale. No guns were involved but it was still a coup. Will the next election be fair? With Attorney General Rudy Giuliani will there be justice?
We’ll have to have overwhelming support to squeak by next time.
