I’ve noticed that reasoning — “he had a gun” used as an excuse for the police shooting someone (even to the point of police planting a gun on a dead person). So if that is considered a good reason for the police to shoot someone, then how can the NRA keep telling us that everyone should be carrying a gun?
And you know that when I say “someone”, I really mean a person of color.

I’ve stopped looking for logic in the pro-gun laws. Stand your ground, open-carry, no background checks, gun show loopholes… Anyone who took a second to think about them would realize it’s a great recipe for lawlessness.
But Trump will be the law-and-order candidate. Sure. As long as law-and-order only applies to people with year-long tans.
No matter how much people want to deny it there is a powerful undercurrent of racism still in this country. White person with a gun = patriot just defending themselves. Black person with a gun = scary criminal. I “think” there is some basis to the narrative of a violent black inner city culture, but I can’t be sure that is true or just bias due to the media reporting. You almost never hear relevant statistics or data related to gun violence. What you do see reported in the media always seems to be cherry picked to support a viewpoint.
More guns than ever in this country, even more than people. And yet we appear to feel more insecure and frightened than ever.
Meanwhile, in the open carry state of Ohio, there are 72 items banned from the RNC event zone (including tennis balls and ice chests, among many others) excepting, of course…

it is interesting to note Ralph that while I can show up packing my 44mag, I must leave the Daisy ® Red Ryder bb rifle at home. Republiecan logic never fails to mystify.
Righteo Dave, and don’t forget to leave your squirt gun and water cannon at home too, alongside the ice chest, no matter how hot it gets out there. I didn’t see anything about aluminum can beverages or juice boxes though, so feel free to bring a few 6-packs and plenty of box wine. You’ll want to stay hydrated carrying all that heat around in the sun.
My question is what are the cops going to do if a shot is fired and all the civilians start waving their guns around.
I know what I would do to anyone I couldn’t id as law enforcement or REAL quick at dropping the weapon.
I think it’s a good opportunity to evaluate the hypothesis that if everyone is armed then there will be less violence. And in fact that theory seems to be holding true at least for the first few days.
Patriot – David Brown, the Dallas Police Chief, said this following the recent shooting of police officers there:
“It’s been the presumption that a good guy with a gun is the best way to resolve some of these things. Well, we don’t know who the good guy is versus who the bad guy is if everybody starts shooting.”
Let’s hope the relative peace continues to hold this week in Cleveland, but I’d hate to be a police officer having to respond to a shootout there trying to figure out who, if any, the “good guys” are.
For African-American men, the 2nd Amendment is fictitious.
Paradoc – evidently so, and perhaps even worse than that, as evidenced by the latest incident in the “Hold your ground” state. In this case, even if you’re an AA on the ground with hands up, you may be a target.

so lets evaluate the hypothesis that if everyone in a crowd has guns, then the detterent will reduce the probability of gun violence.
I believe the evidence has spoken, in this example.
