I think the problem was not “mean” questions, but stupid and irrelevant questions. Wouldn’t it make sense to ask substantive policy questions so that we the voters could make informed decisions on the candidates, rather than asking them to attach each other? That is what debates used to be. The portion of the debate that I saw was all about asking Trump or Jeb or Marco what they thought about another candidate.
Mark, you didn’t watch the whole debate in that case. While there were some clearly stupid questions (fantasy football, why Bush is losing), but most of the “gotcha” questions were along the lines of “Your tax plan doesn’t add up. Explain.”
