The Rape of Logic

Even many people who are “pro-life” carve out exceptions for rape and incest, not to mention if the health of the mother is threatened. But not the Helms Act, which makes no exceptions.

And that’s what leads to this incredibly stupid situation.

We condemn radical Islamists because some of them treat women badly, but what does this situation with Boko Haram say about us?

    My question is what happens after the girls give birth. Does anyone really think that Boko Haram will leave them alone? How many years until the fighters come back to rip those children from their mothers’ arms to train them to fight alongside their fathers?

    There are three major Abrahamic religions in the world. Wouldn’t it be more consistent for the GOP, who supports the extreme right wings of two of them very strongly, to do their best to support the extreme right wing of the third? Maybe even try to heal the split between the two wings of that third? The politics of the three right wings are essentially identical, after all.

    There is a non-religious, non-misogynistic, logical view on abortion. It stems from the legitimate, philosophical and scientific question of when life begins. It isn’t stupid to assume life begins at conception. If there is another metric one wants to use, please share it (first heartbeat, first brain activity, ability to live outside the womb. . pick one).

    This makes for a much better, productive debate rather than assuming the worst of one side with patronising language and portrayals.
