I always expected that people would eventually get tired of all the fear tactics and start ignoring them, but Fox News is still popular, and the upcoming election seems to indicate that fear still works.

You are so right! We should never question the Chosen One.
There’s a slight difference between asking critical questions of authority figures and drumming up red herrings to score political points and boost ratings.
THATGUY is so correct; the former yields thoughtful responses and valuable information, while the latter yields high profits. And even NPR generates a certain amount of fluff to make sure things don’t get too dry.
AND even public radio and TV no longer let all of the legitimate candidates into debates. If a candidate doesn’t meet a certain threshold, then he/she is not invited. If a candidate is not invited, then he/she will never get the exposure needed to meet that threshold. Catch-22.
