Colbert skewers Romney’s entire mathematically impossible tax plan, when (after repeating Romney’s statements that under his plan no middle class taxes will change, and no rich people’s taxes will change) he says, “Then why change taxes at all?”

Brilliant work, and I hope Obama uses that line tonight.

Romeny’s statements on taxing people tonight 10/16 were so off the wall, it shows how out of reality he is.

he says for the middle class, he’ll take 25K off their income. In the last debate he said then he’d take 20%. This amounts to a huge tax increase at the federal level. Say income was 50K. The first 25K is exempted from taxation. For most families with children this is already in place. After that about 10K is taxed at 10%, the rest at 15%. Nothing would even touch the 28%. No child tax credit of $1000. Gone. No child care credit. gone No college credit. Gone. No energy credit. Gone. Family making 50K now two children. Federal tax $3250-$2000 child tax credit=$1250, Under the Romney proposed plan Taxable income would be $25,000 X the 20% he proposed in the last debate=$5000.
Grover Norquist had Republicans in Congress sign a pledge that their would be no tax increase for the rich. They would lose none of their deductions. So the middle class will foot the bill.

But he promises the middle class not to tax their dividends or capital gains. What percent of the working population with children have dividends or capital gains? My clients didn’t even know what I was talking about. Or they had $50 a year dividend from their company that Romney isn’t going to tax.

Meanwhile people like me who live off dividends, don’t have to go to work, etc pay no where near our fair share. He wants to continue that. Well, I voted early. He did not get my vote. I should pay my fair share of taxes.

I think the Republican plan is to have everyone get “skin in the game.” So lets include all income in payroll tax and let those who live on capital gains get a little skin in the payroll tax game?
