This is the first time I’ve seen comics by John Jonik, and this one is so good I started looking around and found his blog. Go give it a look. I’ll try to occasionally post some of them in here in the future.
It is amazingly ironic how politicians are able to get people to vote against their own interests. I guess they learned it from corporations, who have been getting people to buy things they don’t need for a long time. How do they do it? Fear and money.

My next door neighbor: “the problem with this country is entitlement programs” So we should take away the $1000 a year in the child tax credit he and his wife get for his daughter? Or maybe the benefits going to 45% of vets who are applying from Bush’s war games or, or, or? Or perhaps Medicare D that Bush started and has no funding? Or above and beyond what we each put in for social security adjusted for inflation?
First thing Hitler did was abolish the Unions. Walker wanted to lower the minimum wage, yet people didn’t recall him. Squires and peasants.
I had not seen Jonik’s work before, either. In looking through his page (and here’s another one: http://www.mindfully.org/Jonik/index.html ), I can honestly say he’s onto something.

Not one in particular, but rather the totality of his work. Yeah, the links don’t tell you what you’re about to see, but the surprise is worth it. “>D
The Republicans platform is certainly flawed in the pure focus on defense spending. But desiring lower taxes and more freedom is what most of these are about. Thinking the government should be limited in size and does not have the right to regulate business is what the right wing is supposed to stand for.
A government of the people, by the people and for the people. Current ring ideology throws that right out of the window by claiming their government, is not of the people or by the people or for the people, in fact the right views the government as the exact opposite of that, so they don’t even bother trying to achieve that.
Business is regulated because otherwise you end up managing by failure. Basically allowing the same failures to occur over and over and over again and attempting to fix the consequences rather than preventing the problem.
There is always another criminal, another conman, another psychopathic corporate executive who will strip mine the customers, the workers and the investors, basically run a company into the ground to enrich themselves in the quickest way possible.
Leaving government to clean up the mess left over.
Regulation is all about preventing the same failures from repeating, about preventing to big to fail banks, about preventing massive pollution disasters about preventing failed insurance companies, etc. etc. etc.
