I can’t think of anything to add to this that I haven’t already said.
UPDATE: I guess I do have something to add. While the Newsweek cover (sensationally) calls Obama “the first gay president”, an excellent article in Salon points out that James Buchanan, who was president just before Abraham Lincoln, was our first gay president.
I also want to say that the issue here is not that Romney’s ancestors were polygamists. After all, Obama’s ancestors in Kenya also practiced polygamy. The issue here is the hypocrisy of Romney declaring that marriage has always been between one man and one woman.

National Lampoon ten-panel comic about 30 years ago, by Rodriguez, the candidate is a monkey, dressed in a suit, drooling, fooling with itself, dragging a peeled banana as carried and shoved along by its professional advisors and bodyguards. Handlers are busy looking the wrong way. End of day session among campaign strategists- “…I don’t think anyone actually saw the candidate eating that rat….”.
Don’t know if you’ve come across this already (the original article was deleted it seems) but the copy is still intact.

Worth a good read π
Thanks, Falkelord. I had a link to that article here — https://www.politicalirony.com/2012/05/11/traditional-marriage/
“Traditional marriage was redefined when we stopped trading a couple of cows for a wife.” — someone on the internet
This chart shows the biblical definitions of a “traditional marriage”:

My great grandfather(idk how many greats) owned slaves, guess my family is racist for the rest of eternity
Well Duckman, thats nothing. In tracing my lineage back to Europe circa 700 AD through current, I’m pretty sure some of my Christian ancesters persecuted or attempted to slaughter muslims. So the whole 911 thing was likely my fault.
And thats not all, my great grandfather was a sheriff in GA in the 1800’s and given the lack of DNA evidence he probably locked some innocent guy up based on race. So you can add racist to my heritage as well.
At least my grandfather as a child tried to make amends and fed the prisoners food that his mom made for them (they lived above the jail and it was his job to help). Oh darn, theres another one, child labor, holy cow my entire past is filled with terrible things.
I better shut up before I find something else. π
I just thought of another one. When I was 10 and 11 I had a paper route delivering newspapers for the Sun. They only paid me $3 per week for delivering 6 days a week. It took me about about an hour as i recall after school and the minimum wage was about $1. hr and they only paid me .50C an hour. Those guys abused me and stole from me just cause I was a dumb kid who wanted to earn a buck or three to buy some candy and a baseball glove. Those 1% bastards, they stole my childhood. I should file a lawsuit. They should go to jail for using child labor. I feel so violated, oh poor me.
Duckman: This post is not about Romney (or anyone) paying for their family’s history (good or bad). It’s about they hypocrisy (and disingenuousness) of a Mormon claiming marriage is between one man and one woman, and has been this way for thousands of years.
Thanks Sammy. Come on guys, I even said right there in the original post that this was not condemning anyone for what their ancestors did or didn’t do. It was simply about Romney’s hypocritical lie.
I can’t resist — the “biblical marriage” thing is spectacular π but for all those worried about their ancestors π may I submit the “the sins of the fathers shall be visited upon their children unto the seventh generation.” (located somewhere in leviticus I think — I’m not going to look it up!) π Keep up the good work! π
Oh God, I’m getting sucked into this. Actually, the Bible is somewhat ambiguous on your responsibility for the sins of your ancestors. See http://carm.org/bible-difficulties/genesis-deuteronomy/do-sons-bear-sins-fathers-or-not
But at worst, the blame only goes three or four generations. And none of this is from Leviticus.
Come on IK, can’t we have some fun with this? Really, if everyone did this then there would be no one to throw the first stone. Hence, nobody’s right, everybody’s wrong and it just all comes down to personal preference.
