I’m afraid this is too accurate to be funny — but it is magnificent!
Oh yes, and it omitted one thing — all this happened just as the official recount of the Florida Presidential vote was finally being released. Per a New Yorker article at the time, the results were reported to the public on 9/12/01.
P.S. The recount showed that Gore won Florida — but with America under attack, it was deemed better to ignore the results, lest we weaken the country in time of war.
