Yes, this is actual audio from Michele Bachmann’s latest presidential campaign ad, with added animation by Scott Bateman.
Unfortunately, with the animation you don’t get to see the look in her eyes, but here’s the cover of the latest Newsweek magazine to help with that:
UPDATE: The Daily Beast (owned by Newsweek) releases outtakes from the photo shoot. This was not the only photo of Bachmann that makes her look crazy. Plus Daniel Kurtzman has other (mostly humorous) reactions from the media, like The Indecider’s twitter feed, which says “Newsweek called Michele Bachmann ‘The Queen of Rage,’ much to the dismay of her husband, who thinks of himself as the queen of the family.” and “Is that the Michele Bachmann Newsweek cover or a painting that follows Scooby Doo with it’s eyes?” and also “The most shocking thing about Michele Bachmann’s Newsweek cover is that Newsweek is still a magazine.” Oh, and did anyone notice the word “eek” behind her head?

I finally found that weight watchers aid I have been looking for, now all I need to do is to download this photo and paste this to the fridge. This would turn the stomach of the hardiest of circus geeks, definitely a deterrent to good appetites.
This picture really illustrates how batshit crazy-fuck balls-deep insane this woman is. You can see it in her eyes as clear as day. There’s no way she’ll ever get anywhere in politics and the media knows this; they also know that she’s as wacky as a guest on Jerry Springer and worth twice the ratings.
It’s sad how being stupid, loud, and obnoxious gets people attention these days. Fortunately, it doesn’t yet get them elected. I have faith that the American People, on the majorities that count in the booths, know better. McCain’s complete failure to take the White House in 2008 proved that to me. He might have had a chance had it not been for the sideshow he selected as his running mate.
China, I aggree on both counts. In Bachmans case the lights are on but no ones home, and the VP choice was the boat anchor to McCains ship of fools.
You guys obviously havn’t seen or don’t remember Pelosi on a bad day. 2 peas in a pod. Both crazy and ignorant, but on opposite ends of the political spectrum.
I actually disagree. I think it is a mistake to think Bachmann is stupid. I think she is a heck of a lot smarter than Palin, which is one of the reasons she is really scary. To be honest, I’m not sure why people always compare Bachmann and Palin, other than the fact that they are both women and relatively good looking (to some people).

IK – thank you for posting the Daily Show piece. I was really struggling with this one. Bachmann’s political views are off-putting, hypocritical, and sometimes downright shameful. But this picture seems to play on the negative stereotypes of strong women that are used to dismiss women in general.
I found it interesting both that Stewart criticized Newsweek for using that photo, and also that the editor who defended the use of the photo was a woman.
