What a fantastic surprise seeing this in my inbox 🙂
I don’t get upset about Trump, but that’s to preserve mental health and sanity.
I think I was more routinely upset about seeing him on TV where he played the character of a successful businessman. I found him as unconvincing in that role as his present one.
Having been a businessman myself, I find that the American fanaticism with success and wealth is at best misguided. Americans practically worship successful businessmen, where successful means filthy rich.
In this “prosperity theology” (also called the “gospel of success”) Trump is viewed as having God’s blessing simply because he is rich (and regardless of how he attains his wealth). Or, put another way, “the greedy are righteous”.
If this doesn’t soon lead to the downfall of Trump and his cronies, I fear it will lead to the downfall of American civilization.
Great to see you back. It was a really nice surprise in my inbox, unlike the usual “stuff”.
I notice that not only are people enamored of wealth, they don’t care how the person got it. They also feel the same about large corporations. I get surveys and they say things like, “Does your insurance company care about you?” Well no, they don’t. It’s a friggin company. But there are people who believe that a company can and does care about them. The dumbing down of America is officially here. Maybe it’s all the lead in so many water supplies. I wonder if there is lead in my favorite rum?
