Donald Trumped

Yesterday, FBI Director James Comey testified under oath to Congress two things. First, that there is no evidence to support Donald Trump’s claim that Obama had Donald Trump wiretapped during the presidential campaign. Or, to put that in plain English, Trump lied, and continues to repeatedly lie (since he is allergic to apologizing — or just backing down — even when he is caught blatantly lying).

One thing that is interesting about this is it is apparent that Trump got his original claim from Andrew Napolitano, who made the claim on Fox News. And Napolitano in turn got it from RT, the Russian state-sponsored news network. So the Russian government starts some fake news, which is repeated by Fox News, and then by our president. Sad.

Which brings us to the second thing in Comey’s testimony. Comey confirmed that the FBI is investigating connections between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Could it get any worse? Yes it can!

In response, Trump tweeted “The NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process.” Yup, Trump lies again. That’s not what they said at all.

Trump mentions the NSA, and they did also testify to Congress. They said that Trump is endangering the security of the US. Trump has claimed that Obama had the Brits wiretap Trump during the election. The NSA said these claims are nonsense, and “clearly frustrates a key ally of ours”. Trump also insulted Germany by reminding German Chancellor Angela Merkel last week during her visit that the US had wiretapped her. That wiretap became public because of leaks by Edward Snowden (who is now living in Russia). That leak stirred anti-US sentiment in Germany, and Trump bringing it up again just causes problems for both the German and US governments.

Meanwhile, Trump took another weekend vacation at Mar-a-Lago, playing golf rather than working on his promise to get Obamacare repealed. He even failed to show up for a meeting with Senator Ted Cruz, who flew to Mar-a-Lago to talk about the health care bill.

Meanwhile, Trump’s approval rating continues to drop. It is currently at 37%, with 58% of Americans disapproving of his performance as president.

Is it too soon for impeachment?

It’s not too soon for impeachment, but it may be too soon for the Repubs to take a stand. They are living their wet dreams now. Almost unfettered ability to do whatever they want. And an impeachment will take time that could be better spent dismantling decades of progress. At some point Herr Trump will finally do something that they can not ignore and they will start the proceedings to impeach. I think if they have substantial losses in the midterms, or if it even looks like substantial losses, it might speed up the process. They will need to make it look like they are doing something to hold back the ire of the country.

This is almost comedic behavior that we could expect from the North Korean, Iranian or Turkish leaders. Not the US leader. Do people still think a man with such low emotional intelligence can actually lead this country successfully? If you do I have a bridge to sell you.

It was assuredly too soon for an inauguration in January. It is never too soon for a good old-fashioned Impeachment of a fat gormless twat.

I think most people on this board, present company included, would more than welcome impeachment proceedings. The man is clearly unfit for any elected office, let alone POTUS, and have said from the get-go it’s obviously not an entry level position for anyone, especially such a charlatan interloper of pure, unadulterated id. And after just over 60 days in office, he has demonstrated that on numerous occasions already, with practically every day bringing us to new lows. His real-time tweeting during Comey’s testimony suggests he is feeling the heat, still trying to twist the narrative to his favor, and coming up against forces of reality that he can only hope to dodge and evade once again.

His ascendancy to our highest office is clearly symptomatic of our broken electoral process and a hyper-partisan political and media landscape. In short, democracy at its worst and an international embarrassment. But this didn’t happen overnight and it won’t change overnight, impeachment or not.

But for this Congress to be convinced impeachment is their only acceptable course of action, a so-called “smoking gun” is required. Whether Comey & Co. is willing or able to bring such indisputable evidence to the table is questionable, given his obvious partisan and legally questionable behavior during the election. We can only wait and see what these hearings and continuing investigations might yet produce. I wouldn’t count on Wikileaks to be of any service either, given their apparent allegiances.

But wouldn’t it be ironic, if not simply splendid, that Russia, having decided their “useful idiot” is more idiotic than useful to their ends anymore, happen to “leak” some “yellow” journalism? Now that would be something even Nixon’s “plumbers” would have trouble stoppering up and could set in motion a process that finally flushes this fiasco of an administration down the crapper!

    Read this — http://abcnews.go.com/US/story-fbi-wiretap-russians-trump-tower/story?id=46266198

There was an FBI wiretap at Trump tower — because Russians (including the Russian Mafia) were running a money laundering ring out of one of the units in the tower.

And in case you were wondering, it was not ordered by Obama, and it did not target Trump or his campaign. It only targeted the Russians.

In addition, the FBI is now also investigating far right websites, including Breitbart News and InfoWars, as well as Russian media sites including RT News and Sputnik News, because of potential ties to Russian cybercrime groups that were used to influence the presidential election results. The trump presidency is now under a grey cloud per a republican http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2017/03/20/fbi-bombshell-comey-trump-russia-investigation/99411214/

And as a result it seems Trumps agenda is unravelling. There’s fierce opposition to the amended HC bill ironically from the freedom caucus. Its ironical because some of the “angry” voters who voted trump in also voted the freedom caucus members in duringt he tea party resurgence. So these voters are undermining themselves. A reminder that voting angry just doesn’t help.

Per the white house the other items on Trumps agenda wont occur until the HC bill is sorted. So no tax reform for now which is why the stock market is tumbling. Ironically the white house said the stock market is a real time barometer of how well they are doing.

Trump claims he loves to read. Obviously he didn’t read nor learn from Obama’s early struggles with healthcare. Not too surprising since this administration doesn’t seem to be that smart.
