A few gas stations in Michigan have lowered their price to below $1/gallon.
Thanks Obama!
Actually, I’m serious about thanking Obama. After all, his agreement with Iran has paved the way for them to start selling their oil, which is driving prices down. Iran has the fourth largest oil reserves in the world.

Why the heck is it still $1.90 in Chicago suburbs then?
The prices in Michigan are from a “price war” and are a publicity stunt, so they won’t last long. But still, the fact that they can lower their prices that much is significant.
Besides, you shouldn’t complain. In California, the average price of gas is still $2.773/gal, and the national average is $1.891.
Here’s a price map, courtesy of GasBuddy.com.
It’s almost triple that price here in Southern California. Plus or minus $2.90 for 87 octane.
In the 1960s comparable price for a gallon of gas in England was $8. Perhaps someone knows what it is now.
Good time for a gas tax. Pay as you go for infrastructure repair.
