And let’s not forget Fox News, which has taken to purveying outright fiction (aka “bald-faced lies”) under the rubric of “news.”
I was contemplating this absurd brouhaha the other day, along with the surprising indictment of the rookie cop who accidentally shot a citizen while opening a door. I think the unforgivable in our culture these days is the unintentional lie / shooting / crime. Because clearly, when people — commentators or cops — do it intentionally, we genuinely aren’t bothered by it. It’s just the accidental oopsies that earn public outcry these days.
