Good-bye

Jon Stewart announced tonight he will be leaving The Daily Show sometime later this year. He has been host for 16 years!

Tonight’s episode also talked about another news anchor who is departing. NBC News suspended Brian Williams for six months without pay.

Between these two announcements plus Stephen Colbert, how are we going to manage to survive the 2016 presidential election?

Of course, this means that Jon Stewart can run for president. With his name change, the ignorant won’t know he is Jewish. (he is also not Religious) His wife isn’t. I am seeing he has no “whitewaters” in his background.

Sad to see him leave. I have watched the show since 2002 and watched Colbert since day one. Both shows had different strengths, Stephen Colbert, due to superior acting, took things to different levels. An era is coming to an end. Not to forget many graduates of the Daily Show have gone to achieve bigger things.

Despite not agreeing with Jon and Colbert on almost 80% of the issues, I still enjoyed their shows immensely. As I read somewhere, Jon was real newsman pretending to be comedian, while Fox anchors are jokers pretending to be newsmen.

I’m really hoping HBO makes Last Week Tonight more than 30 minutes per week after this news. Jon Oliver is my hope for covering the 2016 election.

The Daily Show won’t be ending, it’ll just get a new host. John Oliver last year showed that Stewart is replaceable.

And recall that Jon was not the first host of the Daily Show.

Iron Knee could do it, couldn’t he?

I wish John Oliver was on a channel that I can get.

I would like to see Assif Mandvi take over the Daily Show. What’s he up to these days, besides movie making? I loved his segment where he went with that group that provides health care for third world countries that went to Tennessee. It was brilliant.

I’m really hoping for Samantha Bee. I think she’d be great in the anchor seat.
