The Enemy of Freedom…

Absolute freedom is another name for anarchy and feudalism. The solution is to find a fair compromise based on facts. Too bad we seem to have forgotten how to do that.

In addition, this comic failed to mention religious freedom. Given the recent news, probably wisely.

Let’s not forget about the for-profit healthcare free marketplace.

Well, we don’t really have a free marketplace in healthcare. For example, there is no transparency. Most of the time, there is no way to shop around and compare prices or services at all.

I lived in New Zealand for 5 months, and while I was there I had to refill some prescription medicines. The TOTAL cost of the medicines in NZ (no insurance) was less than my insurance co-pay for the same medicines in the US. Was a real eye opener.

IK – pardon my obtuse sarcasm (see link).

After all, what other free marketplace hides the cost of goods and services until after you get the bill? And even then, hides behind an alphabet soup of codes and jargon.

There were complaints that Obamacare would effectively introduce a new tax. Actually, the existing system is already like a tax. In fact, it’s worse, because with taxes in most cases you know the amount you paid.
