Late Night Political Humor

“Joe Biden has people talking that he’ll run for president after he was spotted at a fundraiser in Iowa this week. Unfortunately, he missed giving his speech because he spent four hours trapped in a corn maze.” – Jimmy Fallon

“USA Today had a front-page feature on the new healthcare law. It said that the opposition to Obamacare at an all-time high. It has gotten so bad that the president is now calling it ‘Bidencare’.” – Jay Leno

[Jay Leno does it again. How does he keep coming up with such stupid and unfunny jokes? We just avoided a war in Syria, the the deficit is going down, not up. – iron]

I have never understood the reason people seem to hate Jay Leno. All of them have some good lines, some not so good.

On the factual side, claims of war avoidance, i.e. peace in the middle east and Asia may be premature. Lets keep our fingers crossed, and off the trigger.

The answer, of course, is who pays your bonuses and which news feed you follow 🙂

jR, I’ve come to ‘hate’ jay Leno because whether his lines are good or not, they are based on lies, created to promote a political agenda, and by telling jokes based on these lies, he is confirming the lies and promoting the political agenda. And to top if off, his viewership is probably mostly not the most politically savvy bunch on the planet and most likely prone politically influenced by his promotion of a political agenda without realizing it.

That said, a few years back I was one who was very likely to laugh at a ‘Bush is stupid’ joke, but I really never thought that Bush was stupid. The issue with Lenos jokes is that to think the joke is funny you have to pre-assume that the political agenda is factual, thereby reinforcing the lies in a more subtle way.

Or maybe they are just clearly political jokes and I don’t agree with his politics. I don’t think rush or hanity are funny either.

The better question is, Why do you continue to print his “stupid and unfunny jokes”?

Conservatives are never funny because they can’t help hitting you with their sledge hammer of political ideology. See figure 1. Dennis Miller.

I’ve answered that question before. I think it is a mistake to only listen to people you agree with. Like it or not, lots of people watch Jay Leno.

It gives me an idea of what mainstream America thinks.

So it was a simple question about Leno dislike, thanks for answer.

I actually don’t know much about him or follow him as I do not watch TV. What I know is from his car collecting in the car enthusiast press, where he tells nice stories. I had not picked up on whether he is a deranged or cynical right winger or not.
