This site got hacked again. Of course, it always happens when I’m out of town. I got it back up again (by completely reinstalling WordPress), but I haven’t finished restoring it completely to the way it was before. Bear with me for a few days.

Have you considered moving to a hosted platform (WordPress.com, Blogger, etc.)? A little less technical leeway seems like a fair price for security. (Blogger hasn’t had any downtime at all in years, IIRC, from attacks or otherwise.)
At any rate, you know what getting hacked means: They think you’re someone worth hacking. Keep on keeping on.
I’ve actually tried to move to a hosted platform. There were big problems. Difficult to move a large existing site (and I’m a pretty knowledgeable user).
But thanks for the encouragement to keep on keeping on.
You probably have a MAC which doesn’t crash on you and bring you a message “can not be repaired” during the first days of Tax Season. I was up and running with a new one in two days, but I do feel your pain.
I’ve posted here before that I’m happy to attempt to help you but I’ve never heard back from you. I too run a wordpress site and have been hacked over the years.
I assume you’ve got akismet installed and working? And, all comments from new commenters go into moderation?
Do you have the exploit scanner plugin installed? It helps.
Which files are getting hacked? In wordpress the comments engine is a vulnerability and this is why some sites have moved to comment systems like DIQUS.
Have you been upgrading wordpress regularly? A few of the automatic upgrades early on left some files vulnerable and it helps to know how to use an FTP application to manually install wordpress at least once, then continue with automatic upgrades after that.
I too have considered hosted solutions but sites with lots of archived content like yours (and mine) are tough to move. It’s possible but page rank takes a hit.
You’re welcome to email me and I’ll tell you more as I can.
Yes to all of that.
First get it all back up and running the way you feel it should be.
Second buy and extra hard disk, same size or larger of the original.
Third Use acronis to image the first hard disk to the second.
Forth disconnect the new hard disk and leave it in the case.
Do daily backups
When you get hacked, swap hard disks and restore wordpress from the last backup and your up in minutes.
Obviously posting about vagina’s was too extreme for some people and they felt the need to coup you
That must be it!
and the truth shall get you hacked…
I wish there would be a fun hacker, someone who would hack you and put like…a cartoon penis coming out of romney’s forehead on all the pictures
