   Actually, ratings are down nearly 40% overall and nearly 50% in the prime demographic. He has so few advertisers than this show might be costing the network money.

   Advertising Glenn Beck might do more harm to Fox News overall than it will help his show.

   It would run a very high risk of Beck being Beck. In other words, lashing out against Fox News as a liberal-in-conservative-clothing or overtly tyrannical organization. Beck has built his empire on exposing the deep threads of progressivism/communism/socialism in…well…everything. There is a significant chance of a deep fracture occuring in the right-wing-machine were this to happen.

   I don’t think Fox News or the Republican Party would risk that. Which may be why he is still on there today…

   The Wisconsin situation is very interesting (IK, you should post a major entry on that) because people are starting to see exactly how ideologically nuts many Tea Partiers and Republicans are.

   Forget the anti-Christ or conspiracy theory, what is happening in Wisconsin shows that right wing extremists have no interest in actually solving problems, only in advancing their ideology. Governor Walker claims this is a budget action, which is flatly false – the unions he is trying to bust have already stated they will agree to all the cuts in benefits, all they want is to continue to have collective bargaining rights, and Walker isn’t even willing to discuss it.

   I am involved in the No Labels organization, and we have seen emails from certain tea party groups to Republican lawmakers telling them if they even hint that they are willing to seek bi-partisan solutions they will be targeted and attacked – and they have already targeted people like Olympia Snow because she is “too bipartisan”.

   Everyone should have opinions, strong opinions, about what problems we face and what solutions we want to see enacted. We can and should have passionate debates about them. But trying to “kill” anyone that disagrees with you and refusing to even discuss options is not democracy, and we have to have some countervailing force to balance the extremists. I don’t know if No Labels will be effective as that force, but it’s clear we need one 🙂

My response to that is that the private sector workers should e supporting them and reverse the last 30 years of Union busting.     Fort America: Perimeter Defense

    Is this to be the fate of our society, the fate of humanity? Have we evolved over the millennia only to be imprisoned by paranoia, hiding behind secure walls and elaborate security and defense systems? How many billions of dollars are we prepared to spend on perpetuating fear? Who is this enemy that we fear so greatly, and what is the real threat? What does this enemy want, that we’re so afraid of surrendering?

    You’ve heard it before, and I’ll say it again: The enemy is fear itself, and those people who perpetuate it and do their best to instill it in others. Those who preach division and dissent with a vision of war and conquest in their hearts, not one of peace and unity, a reality they build upon, the future they look to. What they envision, so will they achieve.

    The age of fear must end; the time for war has passed. The world can no longer afford the cost of supporting a culture of war. A culture rooted in conquest, oppression, greed and ignorance. The age of the bully has passed. A new age of enlightenment must begin. A time for honesty and the engagement of intelligent minds, a time to tear down barriers, the divisions rooted in fear and prejudice. The survival of humanity depends on it.

    Healthy Thinking: A Canadian Perspective

    We’d all like to have perfect health. It’s a natural desire to want to feel our best, both physically and mentally. But eventually we must all suffer some form of illness as we go through life, and eventually we will all need some form of care.

    As our population ages and healthcare costs soar, the question is; What would be the most cost effective way to deliver healthcare to the growing needs of our society?

    Let’s go back to the perspective of mental health for a moment. How would a truly healthy and sane mind approach the problem, and what would be the answer from a healthy thinker, a healthy mind? Come on now; think about it, in your most sane and healthy frame of mind. All things considered, you’ll conclude that there can only be one intelligent answer: A truly universal healthcare system.

    I know the private sector will disagree, but as we’ve learned from experience, to introduce bankers and insurance companies into the mix is to introduce parasites into our healthcare system, literally. They consume a large amount of our healthcare dollars with no return, funds that could be used for the advancement of health services, but instead go to shareholders and result in an increase in the cost of products and services in general. The shareholders expect ever-increasing profits, and costs will continue to rise in an effort to appease their greed, the results being: A complete deterioration of all health services and the creation of a “perpetual debt”.

    The health and welfare of our nation must take precedence over the well being of financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, and consortiums that are more interested in profit margins than the health and wellness of society. Their involvement results in an unjustifiable increase in the cost for all procedures, services, prescription drugs and anything else related to the medical field, costs that are deliberately inflated because they fall under the “magical” label of healthcare. To have a healthy system we must think healthy. Rid ourselves of the parasites that are corrupting our healthcare system and infecting our government with unhealthy mental attitudes towards the solutions to our healthcare needs.

    Furthermore, we elect and maintain a democratic government to provide for the security and welfare of the nation. To privatize our healthcare is to put the nation in the hands of a corporation that has no accountability and offers no security. This is a breach of the Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms. It’s unconstitutional. Any politician or bureaucrat who is an advocate for a privatized system comes to that position not through a process of healthy, rational, objective thought, but because they have been paid to, and are obviously corrupt. Why else would anyone betray his or her countrymen?

    Reconciliation: Ending Anti-Semitism

    The best way to combat Anti-Semitism is to abolish the words themselves. Strike them from the lexicon and never use them again. A curse be upon the man who first coined the phrase. Call it what it is: Religious discrimination, a hate crime, plain and simple.

    To assign hatred for Jews it’s own term of reference, the words “Anti-Semitism”, presumes that Jews have a different status amongst the many who suffer religious persecution, and that hatred towards Jews is in some way a more serious crime than acts of hatred perpetrated against religious groups who are not Jewish. When it comes to hate crimes there can be no distinction between hatred for Jewish-Semites and hatred for Semites who are not Jewish. Nor can there be any distinction between hatred for Semites and hatred for those who are not Semite. No group or religion can claim special status on the hate list.

    If you want to get rid of Anti-Semitism, getting rid of the term itself would be a good start. We must deal with all hate crimes equally, without discrimination.

    The plain truth is; God doesn’t have a religion and God doesn’t discriminate. Any religion that professes to be the only true religion, or that they‘re special in the eyes of God preaches false doctrine. If the Spirit of God is truly with you, it will only be known by acts of “unconditional” love and charity. No religion can claim exclusive rights to God. He belongs to all that He has created, and to foster a belief in “us” and “them” is to divide humanity, not unite it.

    And so it will be in The End, that those who have set themselves apart from their fellow man will find that they have set themselves apart from God. The worth of a soul will only be measured by how much it has loved, nothing more, nothing less.
