Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine became the first and only Republican in Congress to actually vote for Health Insurance Reform, although it was a vote to move the bill out of committee, not the vote of the full Senate. Even though Snowe has not said that she would vote yes on the final legislation, Republicans are up in arms. They have called her everything from a RINO to a traitor, and some have even threatened to kick her out of the Republican Party.

Wow, she is my hero and could become an independent or Democrat. Collins is following right behind her. Quite a hollow threat to kick her out of the party (which I doubt can be done) as it would make 61 voting with Obama in the Senate. Or 62 if Collins is kicked out. Who was the Southerner who wanted strict guidelines on who could join the Republican party? As I remember only white male stuffed shirts could join. It was fairly recent. An acception had to be made for Steele.
Apparently the Republicans don’t realize how Independent Maine is.
