Rumsfeld now Secretary of Defensiveness

They never say Colin Powell lied. They don’t say Condi lied.

In an article in Time Magazine, Donald Rumsfeld proves that not only is he incompetent and a liar (lots of people have said that Powell and Rice lied), but that he is also a self-pitying coward whose main qualification to be Secretary of Defense is his defensiveness.

    Maybe he and Palin can go on a Victim/Martyr Wannabe Tour. I’ll bet they could get a great crowd of cheering supporters in, say, Jackson, Mississippi.

    The implication here is that he’s admitting Iraq was a lie. I think that’s jarring enough. But to extend that with, “well why aren’t you getting mad at those two?”…it’s like watching my kid brother get in trouble: he’s not focused on why what he did was wrong; he’s focused on how not to get in more trouble than his accomplices in crime.

    And the broader points still stand. The press starts with the general and then gets into the details. Lots of people said Condi and Colin lied, but more said that Rumsfeld and Bush lied because they were unquestionably closer to the center of it all.
