Well, it’s not clear if the “voter fraud unit” is there prevent fraud or to create it/call elections.

They indeed have no shame – but as Chick Hearn (may he rest in peace) used to say, “That’s no bulletin!”

A friend of mine came up with a solution to the “voter ID” thing.

When a person goes in to register to vote, they are required to have a photo ID and proof of citizenship. Why doesn’t the registrar either photocopy their ID or take a picture of the person when they register. The photos could be uploaded to a database that can be accessed at voting areas in the district so that those who run them can compare the picture to the person who is coming in to vote? New photos could be taken every 5 years to keep them current, and then the voter would not be required to purchase a photo ID if they choose to no longer carry one for some other purpose. Anyone else think this is a good idea?

Jeff – that would be a fine solution if there were an actual problem that needed a solution. However, a better solution would be to do nothing and not pass voter ID laws because, again, there is no problem.

Just went to do early voting in my new state…FL. Got a FL voters card….have my valid Ohio DL for photo ID…couldn’t vote. Need “Fl. drivers license” (they don’t trust Ohio Drivers license for photo ID) but if I had a Sam’s club card that would have been accepted…..to get a FL. Drivers license I have to get my 40 year old marriage certificate to show why my name changed from my birth certificate name. Guess fewer women than men will vote in FL (or drive, eventually)
