I guess I need to add one more category of people who like Mitt Romney — cartoonists. He’s like Dubya on steroids for them.

Romney’s smarter than Bush, but can’t seem to figure out which way is up when it comes to his record. It’s almost like he’s confused about his own experience. Did he just go through life doing what other people told him to do, and not really thinking about it? It’s starting to seem that way…
As Joan Walsh said. “Romney isn’t fit to be president of the world’s most diverse country. Why is this race close?” http://www.salon.com/2012/07/25/our_anglo_saxon_heritage_really/
Walsh was referring specifically to the Romney campaign’s use of ethnocentric dog whistles that are increasingly overtly racist but it appears to me that Romney has virtually no qualifications to be president of any nation diverse or not. He’s qualified to be a monarch but other than that, I just don’t get it. Again, why is this even close?
@ Jeff –
My dog is smarter than Bush2. Not as well connected or privileged, but definitely smarter. Rocks in my garden are smarter than Bush2.
Romney’s not confused about any of these items – not his taxes, not his religion, not his role at Bain, not his role as Gov of MA.
He’s playing it safe. He doesn’t want to provide anything to anybody that would drive investigation, concerns, criticism, or suspicion. That’s shows he’s smart.
The question is whether the voting public is smart. Are we smart enough to see through this candidate’s shield strategy of not discussing/sharing? We know some % of the voting citizenry will vote purely on party lines and for anti-Obama reasons. It’s the independents and the non-voters that must pass this test. Get off the couch and vote!
Love the monarchy comment – he’s definitely qualified for that. Maybe he should run for King of England, and give Charles & William a little competition.
ZZN – you hit the nail on the head. Romney is playing it safe, refusing to take any risks, as he has done his whole life. I had a posting about that — http://politicalirony.com/2012/07/08/risk-averse-romney/
