And a huge thanks to all the family members who have and will endure the uncertainty of loving a Soldier, Marine, Sailor or Airmen. Family, the unsung heroes!
1% are bearing 100% of the burden. I have a photo I found of a white board in a Marine Corps briefing room that says, “America is not at war, the US Marine Corps is at war, America is at the mall.” How true. The cost of war lasts a lifetime for those who fought it. Patriotsgt is absolutely right, from personal experience families, especially those of our junior enlisted members, also have to contend with financial upheaval when their loved ones deploy. I just hope we’re doing better with that since I retired.
