My only issue with this comic is that Obama never said he was anti-war. He said he was against stupid wars. So the question is whether what we are doing in Libya is stupid or not. Time will surely tell.

It’s only stupid if we don’t hand it over to our European friends very quickly.
Or if the “rebels” we are supporting turn out to be Al Qaida and Bin Hidin gets sworn in as their leader.
Any evidence they are Al Qaida? Or are you basing that possibility on the rants of Gaddafi?
I’ve heard the Bin Ladden lie a few too many times in the past to accept it now.
CSS – below is a link provided by IK in an earlier post where I brought it up previously.

Aside from this article I am not certain these guys were true believers in the Al Qaida movement, they could have been more paid rebel types or just against the west types. My concern comes from a more common sense thought of where did they get all the weaponry being used. I would be more inclined to believe they are freedom rebels if they were waiving plain old rifles and even AK’s, but to have dual mounted 50 caliber anti-aircraft guns, anti tank missiles and the such along with some very good stockpiles of ammunition makes me wonder.
I am not opposed at all to eliminating tyrants, but who are we putting in their place? Aditionally, once this no fly make it a fair fight phase is over, who’s going to provide law and order, stabilization until a realgovernment can be established. Seems like the same issue we had in Iraq, great plan to go in and win a war, but no follow-up plan. Another mke it up as we go along deal.
Apologies for the multiple typos…me going for the 2nd cup of morning joe.
I read that one reasons that the Muslim Brotherhood had such a big following is because they were basically the only other game in town and now they are losing members. Either way, I have to believe that as long as they have freedom (political, econmoic, medai, etc.), we won’t have a new enemy.
We also need to become less active in these countires. As they say, power corrupts and in many countries, you can’t get any more powerful than backing by the US of A (Karzai, anyone?).
PSgt, on your point about dual 0.50 cals and rocket launchers: maybe they have a second amendment over there, too…
BTN – well I’m pretty sure that as a paranoid ruler who defanged his own military so they would not throw him out in a coop (how ironic) he would not allow his citizens to have that kind of weaponry. They got it from somewhere, I’m just not sure where yet.
I agree on the Brotherhood piece I’m not too sure about them, but I’m willing to wait and see what develops. And your right, we should stay out of it. We should be more like China and send our business people and workers to help them improve their country and make a few dollars for the ole US of A (for a change).
