The only hoax here is that Martin Eisenstact from the Harding institute claimed to be the source of the ‘ContinentGate’ leak and MSNBC believed him, and ran with the story also. While Eisenstact was not the source of the leak, Fox news is sticking to its original story. Now MSNBC has eggs on its face, and KUDOS to Fox for maintaining its journalistic integrity.

As a former journalist, I, Sarah Palin, think that MSNBC should be held accountable for this kind of shoddy reporting. MSNBC has a responsibility to inform the American people, and it is important that they not engage in the smear tactics and the diparaging of characters — that’s the kind of divisive politics that is so hurtful to our great nation. We need to progress this great nation that we all cherish, not undermine it by misrepresenting the truth about our dedicated, hard-working public officials.

The true sources of the leaks have not yet been discovered, but when they are, Joe the Plumber will fix them, and we will make them famous. So, it wasn’t Eisenstact, but the truth will soon be revealed.

This does not change the fact that I, Sarah Palin didn’t know what NAFTA is. I kinda still don’t. And also, I didn’t know that Africa is a continent and not a country. The truth, it seems, is stanger than the fiction; and if I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times also — “the fiction is often the last refuge of the truth.”

However, the truth remains that I, Sarah Palin, did not know that the NAFTA is a trade agreement between our country and Canada and also Mexico.

Now, let me just say here that running for Vice President has humbled me greatly. I now know just exactly what it is that the VP does every day: deal with complicated things of which I know very little.

While Martin Eisenstact will never work on any of my campaigns ever again, I sure hope that I don’t have to run against the next person who hires him.

It is pretty confusing. When I first added the update, I wrote that I fell for it as well, but changed it when I realized that the NY Times wasn’t claiming that the original story was a hoax, just the attribution. I never repeated the hoaxed attribution.
